About Our Institute

Established in 1989, Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer (AHPGIC) is a premier tertiary care oncology center in Odisha, providing comprehensive cancer care to patients from across Eastern India.

Our institute is named after the late Acharya Harihar, a renowned social reformer and educationist. We operate under the Government of Odisha's Department of Health & Family Welfare, committed to delivering affordable, high-quality cancer treatment.

With state-of-the-art infrastructure including linear accelerators, PET-CT, advanced surgical suites, and dedicated intensive care units, we offer multidisciplinary treatment approaches. Our team follows international protocols while tailoring treatments to individual patient needs.

The institute also serves as a teaching hospital affiliated with Utkal University, offering DM (Medical Oncology), MCh (Surgical Oncology), and PhD programs to train the next generation of oncologists.

As a premier academic oncology institute, we are committed to advancing cancer knowledge through research and training future oncologists.

We have collaborations with national institutions like Tata Memorial Centre, AIIMS, and international partners including MD Anderson Cancer Center and Royal Marsden Hospital.

The institute's tumor registry maintains comprehensive data on over 50,000 cancer patients, serving as a valuable resource for population-based studies. Our molecular oncology lab performs genetic profiling, liquid biopsies, and pharmacogenomic testing to enable personalized treatment approaches.

We offer DM (Medical Oncology), MCh (Surgical Oncology), and PhD programs affiliated with Utkal University. Our postgraduate residents receive comprehensive training through rotations, seminars, and hands-on experience in multidisciplinary cancer management.
